My Work Apron
This is my Work Apron. Creating My Work Apron allowed me to further develop my fabric skills. I designed the pattern for the apron, sewed the fabric together, and created my own pouch to conveniently store materials. My Work Apron will help protect me from the messiness of working hard, while also creating a more efficient workflow by including more personal storage.

This project helped me grow more comfortable on the Sewing Machine. I particularly developed my efficiency in fixing broken sewing machines (especially bobbin issues). Additionally this project challenged me to think about the user interaction with the apron. I had to design it to fit me, look good, and enhance my workflow. This was a great learning experience, and I am happy with how it turned out!

I started off by making a pattern out of heavy paper. This allowed me to make changes before I cut into the fabric. Once my design was settled, I cut into the fabric according to the pattern.
I folded over about a 1/2" of the edge and used an Iron to lock the crease in place. I then used a Sewing Machine to sew a Flat Hem around the entire apron body.
I cut out narrow strips of fabric and sewed flat hems to create a neck and waste strap. Then I sewed the straps onto the apron in the position that best fit my body.
Next I cut out a pocket out of a synthetic leather and stitched it onto the front of the apron. These pockets perfectly fit my phone in the larger section and pens/pencils in the smaller.
The cowhide fabric pairs excellently with the synthetic leather pocket. My Work Apron allows me to work cleaner, faster, and in style!
